In North Dakota, registered nurses maintain their competence through continuing education, while nurse aides work in settings where CPR-trained staff are expected on every shift. Here is what applies to your role — and how recognized, up-to-date, documented training meets it.

The North Dakota Board of Nursing sets the terms under which registered nurses renew their licence and expects them to keep their competence current. North Dakota RNs must complete 12 contact hours of continuing education every two-year cycle.
Under the state's nursing rules, CPR certification is treated as a separate maintenance item rather than qualifying continuing education, and continuing-education activities must meet the Board's criteria to count. Basic Life Support is, in practice, an employer and hospital requirement for many clinical roles rather than a standalone licence condition — but maintaining resuscitation skills remains part of the profession's duty to be ready to respond.
North Dakota registered nurses must complete 12 contact hours per two-year cycle. CPR certification is not counted toward those hours; continuing-education activities must meet the Board's criteria, so a CPR course is maintained separately.

In practice, however, Certified Nursing Assistants work in nursing homes and assisted living where federal staffing rules expect CPR-trained staff on shift, so employers require a current CPR/BLS card in addition to the aide credential — a standalone certificate a recognized course satisfies and that must be renewed.
